- How about this then:

- 1) look for the defaults file in $APPDEFAULTS
- 2) look for the defaults file in $PATH
- 3) look for the defaults file in <boot-drive>:\defaults
- 4) look for the defaults file in <boot-drive>:\

- That way, if you don't have environment variables set, you can still keep
- even more crap off of the root of your boot disk.

- Maybe there should be a 2.5) look in current directory, or maybe a 0.5)
